Weather, when to go, What to do?

How to avoid west side of the downsouth in February where some of the best beach time of the year happen due to its sticky hot weather and temperature goes up to 30 °C in the daytime; at the same time on north and east side, the monsoon start to calm down with less rainfall than the previous months. Do remember Sri Lanka is a year around destination offering for any expectation some of the most incredible sight. February gave its best across the whole west coast and downsouth, perfecting timing for some snapshot for serious wildlife & Birds spotter in Mannar where the peak of the migratory birds can be encounter, Wilpattu, Yala and Udawalawe without forgotten the whole Knuckles & Pidurutalagala Ranges, Horton Plains and rainforest (Sinharaja), The Sperm Whale can be sightseen in Mirissa and Kalpitiya. February is the month transition to explore the East.

ENCOUNTER THE WILDLIFE?

As the month of January, the highlight National parks to explore by 4×4 or by foot remain Wilpattu, Sinharaja, Horton Plains Pidurutalagala Range, Udawalawe, Yala where Leopard can be more commonly sightseeing during evening at the reservoir

Dolphins, blue and sperm whales will be sightseeing around Mirissa (Downsouth)and Kalipitiya (North-west).

 

Birders, Don't miss especially Mannar and Jaffna for spotting loads of migratory birds.
